C.A.S.A. a voluntary, nationwide organization supporting people with disabilities was established in 1981.
In 2010, CASA Loughrea was established and has grown from strength to strength.
Through regular social activities CASA enables its members to develop friendships and empower themselves socially, in a safe and respectful environment.
CASA is a registered charity (CHY No 6758) working closely with those who need the services most. Their activities include local social events, respite breaks and Lourdes pilgrimages. They are unique in that they work with people with all disabilities - physical, sensory and intellectual – of all ages and backgrounds and it goes without saying that the demand for the services greatly exceeds the volunteer capacity. Local groups, such as that based in Loughrea provide regular social events for
persons with a disability where they can enjoy activities (a simple meal, live entertainment, a chance to do their party piece) with one-to-one care in a safe and relaxing environment. For people who are dependent on family support or carer’s, CASA offers a much appreciated sense of freedom and independence.
